I think the most influential experience of my summer was visiting Festival Number 6 in portmeirion. The festival is one of a kind and in my opinion is perfect for people of the creative industry. What caught my attention the most was the branding of the festival. The logo was absolutely perfect and worked an every aspect you could think of. I think this was one of the first festivals/events that I really started to understand the importance of branding and how well it can if done right. The programme was beautifully designed with consideration to the stock choice and binding, unlike any other programme I have seen at a festival and the attention to detail with the overall branding really impressed me. With the festival being directed towards the creative industry I got to meet a lot of students also studying similar subjects and some even graphic design. I also visited Amsterdam and checked out a few exhibitions over there which really motivated me and gave me inspiration for hopefully one day putting on my own exhibition. Unfortunately, I didnĂt undertake any work experience graphic design related so did not meet anyone in the industry, however, I met loads of interesting people who were studying similar subjects if not the same who which I had conversations with regarding graphic design and the creative industry. Over the summer I have tried to keep up with design trends and studios via social media, the current PPP brief has made me really excited to finally get in touch with some real studios and designers and get an insight into have the industry actually works and hopefully make myself known.
